Museum_Church Tour FlyerFor those who are interested in a historic tour, join the Marshall County museum staff and explore five historic churches near downtown Plymouth on Pilgrim’s Progress.

On Friday, September 15, enjoy the museum’s latest architectural tour of five of the oldest congregations and churches in Plymouth. Take this opportunity to see the stained glass windows from inside each one.

Tours will start in the parking lot of the First United Church of Christ at 5:306:00 and 6:30 PM.  The churches are located in a small area just three blocks by three blocks.  Starting at the First United Church of Christ at the corner of Center and Adams Street, the tour will begin with a museum guide pointing out architectural details on the outside and then stepping inside to learn a bit about the history of each building and see what makes this church unique.  Hear the oldest church organ in town played by one of our volunteers.  From there the group will progress to the First Presbyterian Church, St. Michael Church, First United Methodist Church, and ending with St. Thomas Episcopal.

Tickets for the Tour of Churches are $10 for adults. Advance sale tickets may be purchased at the Marshall County Museum or that evening at each church or from the tour guide. Children 12 and under are free. For more information, contact the Marshall County Museum, 123 North Michigan Street, Plymouth at 574-936-2306.

You can do the tour on your own or with a guide at the designated times. This is a fund-raiser for the museum. The congregations have graciously opened their church houses for all of us to look around.
