Bicycle accidentAt 9:25 am Thursday Fulton County 911 received a call of a personal injury accident on State Road 110 near the address of 2555 E. SR 110. When emergency personnel arrived on scene they were advised by a witness that a white box truck that was involved had left the scene. The truck was located minutes later and the driver and truck returned to the scene.

Investigation by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department shows the bicyclist Nathanael Ramer, 19, of rural Rochester was riding in the west bound lane of SR 110 and was struck by the passenger side mirror of a box truck driven by John P. Dirico, 52, of Warsaw. The box truck was also west bound at the time of the accident.

Ramer received a head injury and was ejected from the bicycle as a result of the accident. He was airlifted by Samaritan Helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne. His condition is not known at this time but was conscience and alert when transported to the hospital. At the time of the accident Ramer was wearing a reflective vest. Dirico was not injured in the accident.

Sheriff Sailors would like to remind motorist and public to be aware of bicyclist and horse and buggy traffic in the area sharing the roadway in the area of SR 110. “We have had a marked increase of incidents involving motorist, bicycles, horse and buggy’s in the northern part of

Fulton County.  All parties need to be alert when riding and driving in the area. ”
