Underground_Railroad_House_1The Plymouth Common Council held a public hearing on the voluntary annexation of the Weir Enterprises at 1715 Lake Avenue.

Owners John and Carey Weir recently split the historical home off onto a separate parcel with plans to sell the home.   They will retain the remaining property and plan to build a new day care center on the property to the west.

This property was uniquely divided right through the middle of the home with half of it in the city and the other half in the county.  This annexation will bring the remaining property into the city limits.

Donnie Davidson, the City’s Utility Superintendent said the annexation expense will be approximately $20,000 to extend the sewer and $5,000 or less to bring the water over.

There were no public comments and the ordinance for the annexation was heard on first reading.

A second public hearing for the vacation of a portion of Miller Drive was passed on first reading.

CTE_Miller DriveMark Stukenborg from CTE Solutions said they purchased four lots in the TechFarm at the far west end where a cul-de-sac is planned.  CTE will be building a new plant and for the increased truck traffic they needed or vacate the north portion of the cul-de-sac.  In exchange for the vacation, CTE will grant a portion of land for the utility easement to the city.

With no additional comments the Board of Public Works and Safety heard first reading of the ordinance to permit the vacation.
