Culver_Police_CarOn Thursday, August 3rd, just before 9:00 PM the Culver Police Department responded to the west junction of State Road 10 and State Road 17 for a report of a suspicious person.

Officer Bennett of the Culver Police Dept made contact with a male subject who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. The male subject began providing incoherent statements and false information and then fled on foot.

Moments later, the subject was found, apprehended, and taken into custody by Officer Bennett.

Making contact with residents in the area, it was found that the male subject had been trespassing and was reported as a suspect in reference to stolen vehicles in the area.

The male subject was identified as 41 year old Jonathan P. Towne of Elkhart, who held an active warrant for a parole violation. During the encounter Towne was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia.

Jonathan Towne was transported to the Marshall County Jail and was issued a $2,000 cash bond for Resisting Law Enforcement, False Informing, and Trespass. Additional charges may be forth coming from the Marshall Prosecutor’s Office.
