This week the Plymouth Park Board received an update on the wetland mitigation project Marshall County will created at the south end of Plum Street.  This project is necessary because of the Hickory Road Bridge Replacement project and an agreement between the two governmental entities will allow the county to create a wetland without having to purchase property.

Wayne Truex from DLZ told the Park Board the design work is complete on the 5.3 acre project.  The forested wetland project was designed to offer a future nature area and was designed to allow for a possible trail in the future.

Truex also told the Park Board the wetland restoration area can’t be cut, mowed, harvested or subdivided.  He also said Marshall County will be responsible for maintenance and monitoring costs for 10 years, at which time the area will be turned back over to the city for control.

The park board unanimously approved a motion to accept the mitigation and conservation easement.  The paperwork will be reviewed by the Board of Public Works and Safety at their meeting next Monday.
