Fire_17780 6thRoad_1Friday afternoon just before 4 the Polk Township Fire Department was dispatched to 17780 6th Road for a shed fire that was spreading to the residence.

fIRE_17780 6THrOAD_2Polk Township Fire asked for mutual aid from the LaPaz Fire Department and as they arrived on the scene immediately sought assistance from Plymouth Fire as the fire was spreading to the home.

Fire_17780 6thRoaD_3Two elderly people were inside the home at the time of the fire and did make it out of the house although one collapsed in the yard and had to be transported by ambulance to the Plymouth Hospital by Plymouth Paramedics.

fIRE_17780 6THRoad_4The high winds on Friday helped the blaze spread to a large portion of the home.  Firefighters from at least 6 agencies fought the blaze and transported water to the scene.

The property’s deeded owner, according to Marshall County GIS is Sue McVey and Norma Rechtenbaugh Life Estate.  The home suffered major damage to a major portion of it from the blaze while smoke and water damage was sustained to the remainder of the home.
