Faulkner says his business has grown faster than he anticipated. He told members if they had anticipated the significant growth the last couple of years they would have probably doubled the size of the initial project.
Faulkner plans to build a 24,000 square foot addition on the north side of the existing buildings at an estimated cost of $960,000. The project also includes the purchase of new equipment valued at over $216,000. Faulkner told the County Council this expansion project will created an additional 5 full-time jobs.
Jerry Chavez, Executive Director of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation asked the council to consider a ten year phase in tax abatement.
It was a unanimous decision of the council to take the first step in the tax abatement process by declaring the property to be in an Economic Revitalization Area. They will conduct a public hearing on the request at their November 14th meeting.
