Gerald T. McKeigue, 91, of Plymouth, died Thursday, May 19 at 6:00 PM at his residence.

Mr. McKeigue was born on March 8, 1925 in Chicago to the late Patrick and Mary Jane (Sullivan) McKeigue. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in both the ETO and PTO Theatres, he also received the Purple Heart Medal.

After 32 years retiring in 1980 he served the City of Chicago as a dedicated Police Officer. He was a member of the Chicago FOP Lodge # 7, Illinois Police Association and Plymouth Moose Lodge # 741.

He is survived by three daughters and one son in law; Carolyn Kubetz of Florida, Marianne (Don) Gardner of Plymouth and Maureen Holston also of Plymouth; one adopted son: Kirby Whittaker of Plymouth; five grandchildren: Phillip Gardner (deceased) Travis (Jenn) Hunter, Todd Gardner, Ryan (Erika) Holston and Brian (Samantha) Gardner; also surviving are seven great grandchildren: Lani, Boston, Jersey, Jenson, and Jentry Hunter, Aiden and Brooklyn Gardner and all of his “favorite” nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers: Mary Catherine Brown, Margaret Brewer, Joe McKeigue, Jim McKeigue and John McKeigue.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date and inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth.
