Oliver Ford_Bailee Cook2016Bailee Cook, a 2016 graduate of John Glenn High School, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by Oliver Ford Lincoln and Ford Motor Company. The daughter of Michael and Carol Cook of Walkerton, Cook plans to study Agriculture Education at Purdue University.

2016 marks the 32nd year scholarships have been made available by business and industry sponsors and individuals to reward and encourage excellence and enable students to pursue their educational goals.  The Collegiate Scholarship Program has grown from 16 scholarships in 1984 to 1,791 scholarships in 2016 with a total of more than $44 million dollars awarded through the National FFA Organization.  Over $2.6 million in scholarships will be awarded in 2016 alone.  8,383 students applied for the scholarships nationwide, with approximately one out of every five students who applied receiving a scholarship. Oliver Ford Lincoln has consistently partnered with Ford and FFA to fund these scholarships locally.

“It has been so rewarding to see prior recipients of the scholarship find success in college and then implement the knowledge they’ve acquired, wherever they choose to make their home, elsewhere or right here in our area”, said John Oliver III, General Manager at Oliver Ford Lincoln in Plymouth. “We believe the investments we make in our youth are returned tenfold. Congratulations to Bailee on this great achievement!”

This program is a part of Ford’s overall commitment to the National FFA Foundation. Ford has supported the National FFA Foundation since the first F-Series truck was introduced in 1948, and has sponsored the Built Ford Tough collegiate scholarship program since 1997. Ford knows the value of hard work, and believes that hard work should be rewarded. Educating aspiring young people to become the leaders of tomorrow is just another way of ensuring a successful future.
