NASAAs NASA prepares for humans’ first steps on Mars in the 2030’s, it is important to understand fact versus fiction about living on Mars.

On Thursday, October 1, 2015, NASA’s Kennedy Space Center will conduct a Journey to Mars Education Event called “So You Want to Be a Martian.” A curated panel discussion with KSC Director Bob Cabana, NASA’s Planetary Science Director, a NASA astronaut, a NASA botanist, and two stars from the movie “The Martian” will be hosted on NASA’s Digital Learning Network.

Educators had to sign up for this opportunity mid September and seats were very limited. Plymouth Community School Corporation is proud to say that Lincoln Junior High School Teacher Andy Holland embraced this unique opportunity and has secured 42 seats for their students to be on this LIVE NASA webcast!

The 90-minute event will be webcast on the NASA DLiNfo Channel from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm EDT.

Mr. Holland chatted with a NASA technology representative last week and has confirmed we are and good to go technology wise.

In order to qualify for the NASA mission students had to fill out an online form and submit a question they want to ask a NASA expert about future missions sending humans to Mars in the 2030s.

The event takes place during lunch at LJHS; so they have limited student participation to 20 per lunch period. This will be a lunch and learn so the kids will grab their food and come to Mr. Holland’s room, where they will eat and watch the event LIVE.
