The 2014 Campaign for United Way of Marshall County is hoping for a surge in donations in March to push it over the top for its 2014 campaign. “We launched the campaign with an ambitious goal of $550,000, and that goal is definitely within reach,” said Cindy Rash with Midwest Ag, a 2014 Campaign Co-Chair and United Way board member. “We know that this year’s total will continue to grow as people make donations online or by phone throughout March and into April if necessary.”
Organizers are anticipating a shortfall of about $35,000 which represents 6% of the campaign but that’s “not an insignificant amount” for the local agencies, projects and programs in Marshall County that rely on the United Way’s support, said Executive Director Linda Yoder.
Yoder and campaign organizers are holding out hope that generous donors will continue to contribute over the next few weeks. “We just want to be able to support as much as possible our United Way agency partners,” said Rash.
United Way of Marshall County helps support 24 local nonprofit agencies and programs. In 2014, these agencies combined touched the lives of 35,000 Marshall County residents with programs that support education, health and helping families become financially stable. United Way’s Community Investment Committee and board work to ensure that the community’s gifts are invested wisely in proven programs meeting the most pressing needs right here in our community. United Way agencies provide services across the county to all ages, from infants through senior citizens. Member agencies in 2014 included: Adult Basic Education, American Red Cross, The Beaman Home, Boy Scouts of America, LaSalle Council, Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County/Boys and Girls Club of Bremen, Care and Share of Marshall County, Community Coordinated Childcare, Community Hospital of Bremen, Culver Boys and Girls Club, Five Star Life, Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana, The Heminger House, Junior Achievement, Marshall County Council on Aging, Inc., Marshall County Indiana 4-H, Marshall County Neighborhood Center, Marshall County Single Parent Program, Marshall-Starke Development Center, Inc., North Central Indiana Food Distribution, Pathfinder Community Connections, REAL Services, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, The Salvation Army, and the Women’s Care Center. Applications for 2015 are currently under review.
The United Way’s annual celebration will be held Thursday, April 30, at Christo’s Banquet Center, Plymouth. The event will celebrate the achievement of the campaign, the investments in the community to improve quality of life in Marshall County and changes in store for the upcoming year.
