The Triton Elementary third graders have a new guest joining them each week to help learn about eating healthy!
Kathe Beehler is working as a youth food nutrition practitioner through the Marshall County Purdue University Cooperative Extension Office.
Since it is well documented that youth establish lifelong food, nutrition, and physical activity habits during their younger years this program is available to students from grades 1-6. Evidence suggests that well-nourished children are more likely to perform better in school because they have more energy to stay alert and engage in learning.
This curriculum is based on state standards to provide nutrition and health information, as well as, opportunities to practice new skills. Lesson topics include: Nutrition Basics, Physical Activity, Dietary Guidelines for America, and Fight BAC concepts of clean, separate, cook, and chill. Kathe Beehler will be providing this program to Triton third graders once a week for six weeks.
