NOAA_weather_radiosMarshall County Emergency Management Director, Clyde Avery reported Monday afternoon that the South Bend NOOA Weather Radio transmitter WXJ-57 at frequency 162.400 MHZ is experiencing technical difficulties and is out of service.

Avery said, “A loud hum or ringing sound can be heard over the air.”

Technicians are continuing to investigate the problem, but no estimation of service restoral time is currently available.

In the meantime, alternate NOAA Weather Radio stations that can be monitored including WNG-689 Herbron at 162.450MHZ, KZZ-36 North Webster at 162.500MHZ and KJY-62 LaPorte at 162.500MHZ.
