IN.govINDIANAPOLIS – The State of Indiana’s website, www.IN.gov, and the companion IN.gov app has been awarded as one of the top websites in the nation by e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government (CDG). Launched in May, the new IN.gov site and its IN.gov apps place an emphasis on mobile users and allows for a personalized experience through http://my.in.gov.

On the website, the top level navigation was remapped in a more intuitive design to make it easier to find agencies. Each of the seven categories serves as its own portal, featuring the top content from those specific agencies. The site has prominent access to the nation’s top ranked transparency site, as determined by U.S. PIRG.

To meet the demands of mobile users, which have encompassed 36-percent of site traffic since May 1, the IN.gov homepage is horizontally swipe compatible. Additionally, mobile companion apps for iOS and the recently released Android version allow citizens to see content in a native format. The apps feature a job search function for careers with the state, searchable calendar, maps and access to all other mobile apps released by state entities.

Another new feature that has been implemented is http://my.IN.gov, which provides a personalized dashboard that empowers the user to create a unique content experience. Users can create an account or log-in via existing social media accounts. Once logged-in, visitors choose the content that interests them, like news and events from specific agencies or online services, and that information stays on their homepage.

The IN History image gallery, a celebration of the State’s bicentennial, is a collaboration with the Indiana Historical Society and other entities to transport visitors into the state’s past. The background photos, rotated monthly, give a glimpse into Indiana’s history. Each photo has a distinct connection to the current month.
