05/19/14 Plymouth Police are warning citizens of a common springtime scam.

Assistant Police Chief Mark Owen and the police department would like to warn homeowners of possible home improvement scams.  Owen said, “This is the time of year when less-than-reputable or unqualified contactors may contact you.”  It’s not your lucky day when alleged contractors arrive at your doorstep and offer high pressure sales techniques or too-good-to-be-true deals.

Owen warns, “Don’t pay up front, and don’t allow a contractor to pressure you into a quick decision.”  His suggestion is to use local reputable contractors and get opinions from family and friends before making financial decisions.

Complaints against home improvement and home repair contractors are among the most common consumer complaints received by the Better Business Bureau.
