05/07/14  On Tuesday, April 29th at 8:04 P.M. Plymouth Police Officer Shanna Gilmer arrested 28 year old Melissa A. Newcomb of North Liberty after a traffic stop on Michigan Road north of 7B for 3 traffic violation.  During the course of the traffic stop it was determined that Newcomb was operating a vehicle while intoxicated was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement .  She was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $1,505 bond and was released the next day after posting bond and received an May 13th Superior II court date.

On Wednesday, April 30th at 3:20 P.M. Officer Bridget Hite responded to the Speedway Gas Station to assist off duty Officer Derek Workman who had made contact with 34 year old Jacob Belcher of Plymouth whom had active warrants out of LaPorte County.  Officer Hite placed Mr. Belcher under arrests for felony warrants out of LaPorte County and was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on no bond.

Later that evening at 6:58 P.M. Officer Hite responded to a disturbance complaint at 881 Broadway Street. As Officer Hite arrived at the location and arrested 35 year old Rebecca S. Keyser who resided at the residence for battery resulting in bodily injury. She was transported to the Marshall County Jail where she was held on a $1,505 bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.  They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
