05/03/14  On Thursday, May 1st at 6:14 P.M. Plymouth Police Officers and EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle roll-over accident in Centennial Park across from the tennis courts off Becknell Drive.

As Officer Jeremy Enyart arrived at the scene he made contact with the driver, 23 year old Kristofer D. Newman of Plymouth who was driving the 2001 Ford Ranger.  Newman said that he was speeding and decided to drive off-road into the large grassy area across from the tennis courts to make a U-turn.   He accelerate causing ruts in the grass and at approximately 30 feet into the grassy area Newman lost control of the truck when it rolled-over twice coming to rest on its driver’s side.

The passenger in the truck, 20 year old Kayla Johnson of Plymouth who was not wearing a seat belt complained of pain to her hand and arm but refused treated by Plymouth EMS.

Mr. Newman was not injured in the accident but did receive a citation for reckless driving and was given a court date of June 3rd.

Rans Towing assisted in the removal of the vehicle due to the damage caused by the accident.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
