11/01/13 West bound traffic on US 30 was stalled early this morning due to a fatal accident.
At approximately 2:50 the Marshall County Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call from truck driver on US 30 near Union Road. The driver reported that he may have struck a pedestrian.
County Police officers responded to the scene and located the victim lying in the roadway of US 30 in the westbound lanes east of Union Road. The initial investigation showed that the male subject jumped into the path of the semi, resulting in his death.
The accident is still currently under investigation. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The Marshall County Police Department was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Indiana State Department of Transportation, Plymouth Fire and EMS, the Marshall County Sheriff Reserves and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.
