09/09/13 The public is welcome to join the Wythougan Valley Preservation Council on a road trip to the Miami County Museum in Peru, IN on Wednesday, September 11th. They will be leaving from the Plymouth Public Library parking lot at 9 AM. Guests will have the option to caravan in their own vehicle to Peru, or share a ride with another driver. The Miami County Museum features Cole Porter memorabilia like the 1955 Cadillac that was used in “The Godfather,” a Big Top Circus collection that includes circus models and coaches, as well as circus wagon panels, Miami Indian artifacts such as beadwork, arrowheads and prehistoric tools, and their newest exhibit showcasing the history of local newspapers called, “An Industry Built in Ink.” The Miami County Museum is located at 51 N. Broadway in Peru. The entrance fee to the museum is $3.00.
The group will relax and have lunch at Café Du Cirque and then travel on an “automobile tour” of Cole Porter’s home, as well as Miami Chief Richardville’s home and gravesite. They also plan on visiting the 7 Pillars of the Wabash, a sacred site of the Miami Indians. Join the Wythougan Valley Preservation Council for an entertaining and educational day in Miami County. The WVPC is a Marshall County organization that is concerned with the preservation of community heirlooms and the protection of community structures. There is a $5.00 registration charge for the trip, besides the $3.00 museum entrance fee. Guests will be responsible for the cost of their own lunch at the restaurant.
