In a ceremony at the Statehouse, 12 Hoosier companies and 12 individuals were recognized for their commitment to job creation as well as utilizing WorkOne’s available resources for exceptional career development and personal advancement.

Bay Valley Foods is the leading provider for private label foods and food service goods in Indiana. They supply shelf staple foods such as salad dressing, pickles, puddings, marinades and BBQ sauces. Bay Valley Foods has utilized WorkOne resources by using customized searches through IndianaCareerConnect.com to hire qualified employees. Bay Valley Foods continues to build on their relationship with WorkOne to help fill all of their employees’ needs.

“I would like to congratulate Bay Valley Foods for receiving the WorkOne Achievement Award today,” said Rep. Harman. “They have truly set an example to businesses in and around our community, and I’m proud of the dedication they’ve exhibited to create jobs in our community.”

WorkOne is the heart of workforce development and is committed to connecting Hoosiers with available positions as well as providing access to career training opportunities through one of their 11 regional offices. The organization hosts annual career fairs and events to help Hoosiers find employment.

One of those events is the WorkOne Achievement Award ceremony which honored Bay Valley Foods and 11 other companies for their notable job creation efforts and for developing the lives of Hoosiers. In addition to the businesses being honored at the Statehouse, 12 individuals received recognition for their dedication to their own personal advancement through the use of WorkOne education, training and employment services. Plymouth resident Chad Martin also received an award for his achievement and personal growth through the services of WorkOne.

Chad Martin is a post 9/11 veteran who joined the National Guard out of high school and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University-South Bend. After returning from active duty and re-adjusting to civilian life, through self-determination and commitment, Martin completed his degree in May 2012. He was unable to find a job following graduation, but WorkOne helped jumpstart  his current career by connecting him with a position at the Culver Military Academy.

“WorkOne is a major state resource,” said Rep. Harman. “Through their outstanding training programs, many Hoosiers have learned and acquired the necessary skills to meet the demands of Indiana’s growing workforce. Chad shows that, given the chance, Hoosiers can and will pull themselves up by their boot straps.”

The awards were presented by Department of Workforce Development Commissioner Scott B. Sanders at the Indiana Statehouse.
