08/31/12 Fans and friends of Olympic track star Morgan Uceny have an opportunity to meet and greet the Plymouth native this Saturday during the Marshall County Blueberry Festival.

Uceny, two-time national champion in the women’s 1,500-meter run, will speak briefly and sign autographs at the Plymouth Amphitheater, starting at 2 p.m.  WNDU sports anchor Angelo DiCarlo will emcee the event.

Uceny, a 2003 Plymouth High School graduate, has just returned from her training camp in Italy, where she went following the London Olympics.

She was one of the favorites to win a Gold Medal at the Olympics, and was moving into position to do just that in the championship race, when she was tripped and fell out of contention. Uceny was injured in the fall, forcing her to end her season early. She is returning to her hometown for some rest and relaxation.

A four-time All-American in track & field at Cornell University, Uceny was also the 2002 Indiana high school state champion in the girls 800-meter run.

While it was a difficult end to her season, Uceny wants to thank all the people who supported her journey to become an Olympian.

The Amphitheater is located across from the Plymouth High School soccer fields, at the south entrance to Centennial Park.
