It was all about blown opportunities for Plymouth Post 27 last Sunday.  Plymouth lost to Mishawaka twice during the tournament.  The knock out game was Sunday’s first game in which Post 161 defeated Plymouth 5-3 in 11 innings.

Plymouth struggled getting the big hit when needed as they left a runner at third base three of the last four innings played.  Post 27 stranded 12 total on the day.

One Plymouth Coach stated, “It was frustrating to lose one like this.  Plus we had 2 runners get put out at third base in this game.  With no offense those mistakes can come back to haunt you and it did.”

James Hackworth, who hadn’t pitched since early June, came in relief in the 7th inning and eventually allowed the game winning 2 runs in the Top of the 11th to Mishawaka.

Despite the second loss in the tournament, the season doesn’t end there.   This weekend, Bill Nixon Field will be the host site of the Legion State Finals.   Plymouth gets an automatic host bid and will play at 7:30pm at Bill Nixon Field against Valporaiso.

WTCA’s Pre-Game Show begins around 7:30pm.
