After starting out the game with 6 straight strike outs, the Diamond Spyder offense woke up in the top half of the third scoring 3 runs on a pair of Post 346 errors and an Eric Knepper double in route to a 5-3 win over the host team in the first game of the Terre Haute Tournament.
James Hackworth earned the victory on the mound striking out 7 in 4 innings of work. Wes Burkholder tossed two and a third innings allowing one unearned run.
Wally Dickman hit a solo home run in the top of the 7th and Brock Anson hit a single, stole second and scored on a single by Brody Andrews.
Tyler Niespodziany came in with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh and earned the save by getting two ground balls.
