The Home opener for the Plymouth Pilgrims was spoiled by SB St. Joe Wednesday as Plymouth was whitewashed 10-0 in 6 innings.

Starting Senior pitcher Chase Peters struggled in the very first inning giving up 4 runs on just 1 hit.  3 of those 4 runs came off wild pitches.

“Chase just struggled early.  He gave up those 3 runs in the first inning, threw about 40 pitches just that inning.  So….I feel he did well settling down and not allow another run the next two innings.  We had to take him out because his pitch count was getting to high for this early in the season.”, said Plymouth Head Coach Tony Plothow.

Sophomore Jacob Frantz came in relief and faired no better surrendering 6 runs on 4 hits in 3 2/3 innings.

“In all, the season is early.  We need to get better pitching.  Once again 4 errors hurt us, that’s 7 in our first 2  games.  We have to shore that up quickly.   Otherwise, our pitchers arms will fall off by mid-season because of the extra pitches they have to throw just to get outs.  So yea….our defense HAS to improve.”,  said Plothow.
