United Way Ride to Benefit Heminger House this Saturday

The 9th annual Ride for United Way is being held this Saturday, June 26, in Plymouth .  Proceeds will be given to the Heminger House Shelter for Women and Children, a safe house for victims of domestic violence.

 A silent auction will add to the fundraiser. 

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Christos’ Banquet Center at 830 Lincolnway East in Plymouth.  A riders’ meeting will be held at 9:45 a.m.  The last motorcycle will leave at 10:15 a.m. and the last bike will return at 2 p.m.  The ride ends at the Moose Family Center, 1225 West Jefferson Street in Plymouth.

Registration is $25 for “pilots” and $10 for any “co-pilots.”  T-shirts will be given away to the first 150 bikers.  For more information, contact the United Way of Marshall County office at 936-3366 or the Heminger House at 936-7233.  Door prizes will also be given out at the Moose Lodge.

The items to be auctioned include: two caps, a c.d., photo and autobiography from country singer Gretchen Wilson; a collectible #43 Cheerios car, autographed by Richard Petty and Bobby Labonte; an autographed cap from Bobby Labonte; six autographed Scott Skiles basketball cards; a 27-piece Tekton screwdriver set from NAPA of Plymouth; two Paris Hilton bags and cologne from Peebles; and two baskets of candy.

Also, Bubba the Love autographed merchandise; a picnic ensemble from Apex Therapy; a coffee basket from Family Express; Hair products from Bridgette Slone; a tote bag made from recycled grocery bags ; Decorative expressions and a $10 gift certificate from Uppercase Living; a set of floating candles from  Loren’s Pool and Spas in Plymouth; a silver heart necklace from Fernbaugh’s Jewelry; a full body massage from  Plymouth Therapeutic; an autographed Steve Alford basketball card; a four-piece Tupperware canister set from LeAnna Hostetler; and three Tastefully Simple summer totes with chips and cheese dips from Deneen Wilson.

The public is invited to attend the silent auction without participating in the motorcycle ride.  Bids will be written on a piece of paper and the highest bidder wins the opportunity to purchase the item.

Gift certificates will be given away as door prizes from Pizza Hut, the Log House Restaurant in Argos , Yoder’s Sporting Goods, Ponderosa, Applebee’s, and Beef O’ Brady’s.
