City Looses K-9 to Cancer

August 23, 2012

08/24/12 Plymouth K-9 Officer John Weir confirmed that his partner Rex was diagnosed with cancer by the veterinarian.  On Tuesday the city’s K-9 was put down.  Not only was Rex a working officer for the Plymouth Police Department, he was a loved member of the Weir family.

The City of Plymouth Police Department will be replacing Rex in the near future.  Officer Weir will be picking up his new partner on Monday, August 27th and begin training on September 4.  The new K-9 does come to the city at a cost of $15,000 and thanks to the support of John Banning with the Plymouth American Legion, Acura Pharmaceuticals, Bomarko, Hoosier Tire, Plymouth Foundry and US Granules the purchase of the new K-9 and supplies needed are covered by their generosity with no tax dollars.
