04/09/12 Currently, there are more than 113,000 men, women and children waiting nationwide for a lifesaving organ transplant, and in Indiana alone, there are more than 1,500. On April 11th, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center will proudly partner with Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO) and numerous local and state agencies to host events in honor of National Donate Life Month.
A donor registration drive will take place in the Plymouth campus main lobby from 11:00 am to 1:45 pm, with representatives from the IOPO, Donor Services of Indiana, New Life Generation, and Indiana Lions Eye & Tissue Transplant Bank available onsite to answer questions. An Ecumenical Prayer Service will follow in the hospital Chapel at 2:00 pm, where recipient and donor families will be honored, and an official flag raising ceremony will conclude the afternoon immediately following the prayer service.
The Donate Life flag will be flown at both hospitals throughout April to honor those who have given the Gift of Life through organ, eye and tissue donation, as well as those who have received this precious gift.
