Plymouth Twirlers Advance to National Pre-Trials in Daytona Beach

June 20, 2013

06/21/13 On Friday and Saturday, June 14-15, Alicia Dennie and Jillian Smith both competed in the United States Twirling Association Mid-East Regional Competition.  The girls won the title of Advanced Regional Jr. Dance Twirl Pairs.  Alicia will be a freshman and Jillian a sophomore at Plymouth High School in the fall.

The girls also competed in Pre-Trials on Friday and both qualified individually and as a pair for the National Pre-Trial competition in Daytona Beach, Florida in July.  They were the only pairs team from our region to qualify for Pre-Trials.  Pre-Trials require the girls to first do certain required skills and receive a score then they do a freestyle routine to their own music and are scored by multiple judges.

Both girls competed in multiple events and placed very well.  They will travel to Daytona Beach on July 12th to begin competing in Pre-Trials, pairs, dance twirl, strut, solo and two baton.  The girls are coached by Kyle Keiser from Kalamazoo, Michigan and are members of Daphne’s Dolls.
