United Way’s Fab Five Kick Off 2012 Campaign!

September 12, 2012

09/13/12 The “Power of We” is the theme for the 2012 United Way campaign and five familiar faces are taking the lead in raising funds to improve the quality of life in Marshall County. United Way brings together people and resources to build a safety net to help meet needs of local residents. “Collectively, WE have the power to strengthen our neighborhoods, bolster the health of our communities and change lives of those who walk by us every day,” said Linda Yoder, Executive Director for United Way of Marshall County Inc.  “We are pleased to have a team of five strong community leaders who are chairing this year’s campaign and helping carry that message to hundreds of businesses and thousands of individuals across Marshall County.”

Bill Davis (Bremen), Dave Goebel (Plymouth), Scott Graybill (Bremen), John Oliver III (Plymouth), and Lance Overmyer (Culver) have been dubbed the “Fab Five” by those working with them on the campaign. The goal this year is $475,000. The United Way of Marshall County will host its annual Campaign Kick-off event in three communities this year starting Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Christos’ Banquet Hall in Plymouth, Indiana, at 11:30 a.m.  Dr. Dane Miller, co-founder and former CEO, President and Director of Biomet, will be the guest speaker.

The second United Way kickoff event is held at Papa’s Restaurant in Culver on Tuesday, October 2, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. United Way will be hosting the Chamber of Commerce of Culver and special guests at their monthly meeting.

The third United Way kickoff event is a breakfast held in Bremen on Thursday, October 4, from 7-8 a.m. at the Community Hospital of Bremen Café; breakfast will be served starting at 6:30 a.m. Senator Ryan Mishler has been invited as guest speaker.

The United Way of Marshall County invests in the building blocks for a good life: income, education & health. All United Way programs seek to advance the common good.  By helping children, leading adults to self-sufficiency and strengthening neighborhoods and communities, United Way agencies and the thousands of volunteers and donors who support them create a stronger future for Marshall County.

All three events are free and open to the public and furnished through generous support from Christos’ Banquet Hall in Plymouth, Papa’s Restaurant in Culver and the Community Hospital of Bremen Café in Bremen.
