local News_2The Marshall County Genealogical Society will host a special guest for their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 21st at the Marshall County Museum.

Participants will learn how the Indiana State Library is providing free, digitized, historical and cultural resources to help with genealogy and local history searches.

The presentation at 6 p.m. will be given by Chandler Lighty, the program manager for Hoosier State Chronicles.

The Indiana State Library’s, Indiana Memory, offers hundreds of thousands of digitized items ranging from photographs, manuscripts, maps, and county histories.  Hoosier State Chronicles, Indiana’s digital newspaper program another IN State Library initiative, is an officially endorsed Indiana Bicentennial Legacy Project. The Hoosier State Chronicles projects to have over 750,000 digitized newspaper pages available by the end of 2015, and over a million more pages freely available to Hoosiers through a partnership with Ancestry.
