Police HandcuffsOn Wednesday evening April 1st Marshall County Sheriff’s Officer Les McFarland was dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the area of the 16,000 block of 3B Road.  During the investigation it was believed that 62 year old John R. Hathaway of Plymouth was intoxicated.

The truck Mr. Hathaway was driving went off the roadway and hit a pine tree causing severe damage to the pickup truck.  Hathaway was transported to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for a chemical test.  He was then arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated and his bond was set at $1,500 cash.

 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed.  They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
