35 year old Robert Lee Stafford of Maple Street in Argos was arrested Friday following an investigation by the Argos Police Department.

On Friday the Department of Child Services contacted the Argos Police Department and advised of a possible child molesting incident that was alleged to have happened on February 27th.

The mother of the 7 year old female victim contacted CPS and on Friday the victim was interviewed by the Casie Center and detailed the incident.

Allison Beachy from CPS and Argos Police Officer Corey Bowman went to the home in the 400 block of Maple Street but the suspect, Robert Stafford was not there.  A short time later Stafford came to the Argos PD, was advised of his rights, waived his rights and provided a statement where he admitted to molesting the young female.

Officers received consent to search the residence and collected evidence from the residence.

Robert Stafford was arrested Friday afternoon for one count of child molesting as a level 1 felony.  His cash bond was set at $100,000 and a no contact order was issued.
