On Thursday, January 15, South Bend police officers responded to a report of a body found on the south side of town.
The body was found by two men near the newly constructed Jackson Road bridge over U.S. 31.
On Tuesday, the St. Joseph County deputy coroner made an initial ruling of suicide.
According to his report, 48-year-old Jeffery Stephenson of Argos died from multiple blunt force trauma consistent with an elevated fall. The man was last seen on Friday, January 9.
