Garmon_Shell_signLast week members of the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission were updated on the Garmong Commerce building being constructed in the industrial park on the north side of US 30 and west side of Pioneer Drive.

The 45,000 square foot shell building is nearly completed and ready to be turned over to the partners; the City of Plymouth, Redevelopment Commission and Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation (PIDCO) and be sold or leased. This is the first shell building in Marshall County constructed specifically for the purpose of attracting new business to the county.

The size of the new shell building has the potential of up to 135,000 square feet and makes Marshall County more competitive in attracting new business.

Marshall County Economic Development Corporation has launched a marketing campaign in partnership with Michiana Partnership, Inc., a regional economic development organization with a specific focus on business attraction.

Preparations are underway for the lease payments to be made by the Redevelopment Commission until the building is leased or sold. The responsibilities of mowing and snow plowing are also worked into the agreement.

Garmong_Side&BackRelated to the Garmong Commerce Building, Mayor Mark Senter told member of the Redevelopment Commission he plans to rename Commerce Street to Veterans Parkway next year since the County’s 7th Road proposed to be named Veterans Parkway project will eventually expand to the west and meet up with the street.
