Drum roll PLEASE…..BBRRRRRRRRRRRR and the total for the Riley Gear Run in 2014 is $13,101.05!!!! Chairman of the event, John Pasley said, “Excellent job Melissa Clark Hunter Keeling Jason N Mindy Lambright Chad Kinney, Courtney Snyder and Steffen Schrock!” These are the other firefighters who ran the 15K Blueberry Stomp this year with him and in full gear.
Hunter Keeling said on facebook, “I still can not even believe that we raised $13,146.05 for Riley Gear Run! Our community is amazing! Thank you all. This donation will help so many children and their families!”
Lisa Jacobs whose husband is a firefighter for Plymouth and whose daughter has been a Riley Children’s Hospital patient for her entire life said, “You guys did an awesome job! The Jacobs Family is thankful for every step you took and every penny you collected! It’s wonderful living in a community that is so understanding and giving!”
This was the third year that Pasley has run the 9.3 miles in full gear for the kids at Riley. The first year 2012 he raised $3,380.18. The following year in 2013 John had additional a few firefighters from area department join him. All together they raised $7,002.99.
This year a few more joined the team to run and not only were donations brought to the fire department and dropped in dozens of fire boots in many local business but firefighters collected money along the parade route as the 8 were running that last mile back to the finish line.
Pasley had one thing to say, “Thank you to this wonderful community for your support!”
