05/15/14 On Wednesday, May 14th at 12:28 A.M. an officer with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop at US 31 and US 6 in LaPaz for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, 24 year old Joshua R Ramirez of Walkerton was found to have a suspended driver’s license. During the investigation Marshall County K-9 Arras alerted the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle produced approximately 6 grams of white powder, several items required for manufacturing methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located.
The passenger in the vehicle, 18 year old Tori A. Drubert of Warsaw had consumed alcohol. Drubert was taken into custody on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of chemical reagents and or precursors, dealing, delivering and or manufacturing methamphetamine and illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
Mr. Ramirez was taken into custody for dealing, delivering and or manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of chemical reagents and or precursors and driving while suspended with a prior infraction.
Both subjects were transported to the Marshall County Jail and held without bond.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
