01/10/11 The Marshall County Council and Plymouth City Council will be meeting on Monday. Both meetings are open to the public with a limitation of discussion to agenda items only.
The County Council meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. in the second floor meeting room of the County Building. The agenda includes the request of Building and Grounds director Rich Ulrich to fund a part-time maintenance person due to an employee in his department being on medical leave. County EMA Director Clyde Avery will be on hand to seek approval of the appropriation of grant monies and a time for public input.
The Council will hold a re-organization of the board with the election of a President and Vice-President. They will also select a member to be their representative to MACOG and two members to sit on the county’s Personnel Committee along with revamping the liaison assignments.
The County Council will consider three requests for additional appropriations from the Health Department. Director Wes Burden will seek the appropriation of Tobacco Cessation Funds of $6,931 for a part-time clerk and $13,832 for a part-time nurse and $8,000 for a tobacco cessation program at the LifePlex and a smokerlizer that the community can use.
There are several transfer requests to balance out line items in the 2010 budget.
Other item for the County Council include the 2010 Annual Jail Report, Sheriff’s Commissary report from July 1 to December 31, 2010 and a resolution to transfer funds to the County’s Rainy Day Fund.
The City of Plymouth meetings include the Board of Public Works and Safety at 6 p.m. and the Common Council at 6:30 p.m.
Department heads will hear reports from the Utility Superintend, Building Commissioner, Fire Chief, Police Chief, and Street Superintendent. Other items include the City Engineer, City Attorney, and City Clerk.
The Common Council will consider an ordinance that will eliminate the premium cost on building permits for construction outside the city limits and that additional of a couple new permit fees on third reading. Second and third reading of an ordinance prohibiting dogs in Oakhill Cemetery is listed as a tabled on the agenda. Council members may decide to remove the ordinance from the table and take action.
Other City Council agenda items include appointments by the Common Council and by the mayor along with uniform conflict of interest statements.
The City and County meeting are open to the public.
