11/13/13 The Plymouth School Board will consider a design build process to upgrade the video monitoring system in all of the buildings in the Plymouth School during a special School Board meeting on Thursday.
The proposed upgrades would mean installing Closed Circuit TV cameras that would allow building principals to monitor their own facilities as well as add a monitoring aspect that could be viewed by safety personnel at a central location.
The proposed upgrade was one of the recommendations to the Board made by Director of Safety, James Phillips, in August. Phillips was hired by Plymouth Community School Corporation in July of this year. Phillips said, “The CCTV system is a robust upgrade and will fulfill needs in terms of safety. This is a pro-active step” The Board has already approved a bond to implement the safety recommendations.
According to Phillips, the proposed system will be password protected and within a secure network. He said the CCTV cameras would be placed to monitor hallways, entrances, and common areas. “The system will allow us to know who is coming into our properties.”
The design build plan is, in essence, a negotiated cost plan with providers of the specialized equipment.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 14 at 5:00 P.M. The meeting is open to the public. Immediately following the open meeting, the Board will meet in executive session to receive immolation from a consultant about the performance of their role as public officials.
