09/20/13 Mrs. Brosman’s fifth grade class at Triton Elementary School has been learning more about what poverty means and countries of the world that are stricken with high poverty rates.

Students became very interested in what could be done to help these countries. The teacher introduced to the students www.freerice.com, a website where students can use their academic knowledge to help to donate grains of rice through the World Food Program to help end hunger. Students have been excited to use their knowledge of math facts and vocabulary to help feed the hungry.

Donna Burroughs, Superintendent said, “What giving hearts these 5th graders have!”
