04/10/12 Tony Gamble, Chairman of the Marshall County Democratic Party announced the annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner this Sunday, April 15th at Memories Reception Hall, 401 East Jefferson Street in Plymouth.  The featured speaker for the evening will be Brendan Mullen, Democrat Candidate for 2nd District Congress.

  Born and raised in South Bend, Brendan graduated from John Adams High School and went on to the United States Military Academy at West Point to train and prepare for a career of service to our nation as an officer in the United States Army.

Brendan’s overseas deployments and officer assignments included serving as a Combat Engineer in South Korea, commanding a platoon of 40 soldiers near the DMZ. He later served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, near Mosul Iraq, mentoring, advising and training Iraqi Security Forces.

Brendan and nine other U.S. soldiers lived and imbedded inside an Iraqi Infantry Battalion of 1,000 Iraqi soldiers, logging over 3,000 miles of missions, convoys, patrols and raids. Stateside, Brendan was 2nd in Command of an elite Urban Search and Rescue Company of 150 soldiers for President George Bush. By the end of his honorable military career, Mullen had earned numerous awards, badges and decorations.

After serving his country, Brendan helped start and run a small business that grew under his leadership from one employee to over 110. Brendan would later open his own Strategic Planning, Strategic Communication and Information Technology consulting firm that is currently employing Hoosiers and supporting Indiana Guard and Reserve soldiers returning home after their deployments.

Special guests for the Jefferson Jackson Day Dinner will include Congressman Joe Donnelly, candidate for the U.S. Senate and his wife Jill and former Governor Joe Kernan and his wife Maggie who will be attending on behalf of John Gregg, Democratic candidate for Governor.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students.  Doors will open at 5:30 with dinner being served at 6 p.m.
