03/15/12 Plymouth Department Heads presented their monthly reports during Monday’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Fire Chief Rod Miller presented his first monthly report to the board. The Plymouth Fire Department responded to158 alarms in February. Those calls were divided into: 122 EMS incident calls, 16 medical assist calls, 8 dispatch cancelled in route, 3 false alarms, and 1 each for cultivated crop fire, electrical wiring, extrication, good intent call, natural vegetation fire, person in distress, public service assistance, smoke or odor problem, and one system malfunction.
Fire calls were divided between several communities including: 105 in Plymouth, 23 in Center Township, 17 in West Township, 4 Argos Paramedic assist calls, 2 Walkerton Assists, and 2 calls for Culver. There was 1 each for Bourbon, LaPaz, Polk, a Starke County Paramedic assist call, and an assist for LaPaz.
Plymouth Police Chief Jim Cox presented his monthly report for February. His department handled 599 calls for information, and conducted 342 security checks. Officers made 208 traffic stops and responded to 179 complaints. City police officers were dispatched to 149 9-1-1 calls, conducted 119 investigations, made 38 criminal arrests, handled 37 vehicle checks, and were dispatched to 36 alarms.
The police department issued 35 $2 parking tickets, used K-9 Rex 26 times, checked on 23 suspicious vehicles, made 23 traffic arrests, checked on 22 suspicious persons, and investigated 21 property damage accidents. Officers responded to 22 theft complaints, conducted 10 welfare checks, located 10 open doors and windows, were dispatched to 8 domestic fights and 6 batteries. Police initiated the merchant protection plan twice, handled 2 unwanted guests and issued 1 $10 parking ticket.
