10/19/11 Residents at the Catherine Kasper Home hosted the Ancilla College men’s basketball team to a meet and greet session on October 14.  Players introduced themselves, shared where they were from and spent time with the residents getting to know them. Mary Burkett, 104 years young, had some advice to the players, “Play hard, play strong and play fair.”  The team responded with a hearty laugh and said they would do their best.

The basketball team plans to spend more time with the residents of Catherine Kasper Home throughout the school year, and some residents plan to attend the basketball games.  The team opens their season November 1 at Concordia Theological Seminary. The first home game against Grace College is on November 7 at 7:00 p.m. at LifePlex in Plymouth.  Catherine Kasper Home and Ancilla College are ministries sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and are both located on the grounds of the PHJC Ministry Center, an intergenerational living and learning center.
