Jake Singleton, assistant principal at Lincoln Junior High School in Plymouth released details of a new initiative at the school this year.
He said, “This year we are planning five different community service initiatives to get our school more involved with the community and finding an opportunity to give back. We are calling it Lincoln Leads.”
Each quarter, staff and students will have the opportunity to participate in a Saturday community outreach. Anyone can sign up and participate in the one or all of the five events they have planned this upcoming year.
September 18 from, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a community carwash with donation accepted. All money collected will to directory to the Treber family who recently lost their home to a fire.
On November 6th staff and students will participate in a leaf cleanup. Community members will have to opportunity to sign up by a certain date if they would like assistance raking or picking up leaves and sticks in their yard.
December 4th Lincoln Leads will be delivering Christmas trees to elderly people in the community or those who may be unable to get out of their home to get a tree.
The February 19th community event will be a fitness day with a yoga class, the fitness room will be open, basketball courts available, pickleball and badminton will be available and the indoor walking track will be open to the public.
On April 9th Lincoln Junior High students and staff will participate in a community cleanup day in the city parks and neighborhoods around the school.
On Friday, August 20th Principal Reid Gault and Assistant Principal Jacob Singleton will be our guests on the What’s Your Opinion Show about 9:45 a.m. to discuss the new Lincoln Leads initiative and invite the community to attend the new school’s open house on Sunday, August 22nd from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
