Members of the Plymouth Park Board approved free use of River Park Square and the Young Amphitheater for the REES Theatre and the Plymouth Public Library.
The REES Theatre would like to use River Park Square on Saturday, May 1st from 6 to 10 P.M. for a live musical performance with the Lincoln Junior High and High School bands along with the Jack Whittle Trio. On July 3rd there will be a performance of live theatre featuring performances from the Encore Performing Arts Group as well as some local high school theatre groups.
On June 5th the REES Theatre would like to use the Young Amphitheater from 6 to 10 P.M. for a dance and gymnastics performance featuring local groups. On August 7th they plan to show a family-oriented movie.
Sean Hatfield from the REES Committee said in his request to the Plymouth Park Board, “These events will serve as a temporary solution while the theatre is under construction.”
Cindy Clough from the Plymouth Public Library requested free use of River Park Square on Saturday, June 26th to host an event revolving around the One Book One City event where folks are reading the book called This Is Where You Belong by Melody Warnick. The vision this book gives is learning how to love where you live, finding ways that you can give back to your community and find that sense of belonging.
The Marshall County Historical Society, Heartland Artists Plymouth Parks and Recreation and the Chamber are all working together to encourage people to learn about our community and all we have to offer.
The Library is planning an event for non-profits to share information about their organizations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clough said, “This is so people in our community can see the needs and know where they can plug-in.” They also hope to have games to draw in families.
The Plymouth Park Board unanimously approved both requests.
