Argos Christmas in the ParkThe Town of Argos proceeded with a version of their Christmas in the Park and found a big success.

Mark Van Der Weele, a member of the Elevate Argos group was elated with the success of last Saturday evening. “We originally planned for guests to be in the park and provide hot chocolate, hot dogs, a special Christmas tree lighting, and more time spent with Santa. However, due to the increase in COVID numbers, we decided to be creative with the event. Cancelling altogether just wasn’t an option we considered. We thought the drive-thru experience was the perfect alternative.”

As guests stayed in their vehicles, they drove to an area of the park lined with luminaries. It lit the way to the next section with lots of Christmas lights on trees and a pavilion. Santa rode in on an Argos fire truck and waved to everyone that stopped to say hi. There were even Christmas carolers.

“We honestly could not believe the number of families that attended the event” said Mandy Campbell, member of Elevate Argos. “We counted almost 300 vehicles which came from Argos, Marshall County and some came from surrounding counties as well. Many waited for 40 plus minutes to see our Santa. It truly started the Christmas spirit for many. I know the entire Elevate Argos team, our parks and fire departments were thrilled we were able to provide the event for the community.”

“The momentum in Argos is gaining” states Van Der Weele. “We have business and housing growth. Our Pond Park received a significant enhancement this year, and our Community Park has increased events. All of which are raising the quality of life in Argos and making our town that much more marketable. Next year we hope to break ground in our new downtown space which will provide endless opportunities like Christmas in the Park.”

The Elevate Argos team is already planning events for 2021 and encourages people to follow them on social media to stay informed. www.TownOfArgos.com or social media @townofargos.
