Each school year, the Plymouth High School National Honor Society (NHS) holds an induction ceremony on a Sunday in May in the high school’s auditorium to recognize students who have been inducted during the current school year for demonstrating excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Additionally, time is set aside to honor outgoing senior members who have made it into the prestigious organization. This school year the in-person recognition program has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, NHS Advisor and English Teacher Tyler Ciboch said, “I had to do something to recognize the 23 seniors who were graduating this school year.” He worked with the PHS Career Marketing class to produce a special video tribute for the 23 seniors who are graduating. Career Marketing Senior Dylan Panzica, under the guidance from his marketing teacher Judi Lykowski and Mr. Ciboch, created a special video tribute that shines the light on the 23 seniors who are members of the PHS NHS.
To be considered for the NHS students must hold two leadership positions, be involved in the community through volunteerism, and hold a minimum of 3.3 GPA. Ciboch said, “being inducted into the NHS not only recognizes students for their academic accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.”
Cameron Riddle is the sole senior to be inducted this year into the National Honor Society. Riddle holds a 4.0 GPA and at the end of the first semester was ranked 19 out of 234 students in the class. He plans to attend the West Point U.S. Military Academy and although he is not sure what he wants to major in at the moment but he is certain of his career goal of serving his country. Riddle is the son of Morry and Kim Riddle.
Plymouth High School is planning to announce the underclassmen who were inducted during the 2019-20 school year into the National Honor Society at a Plymouth High School recognition program sometime in the fall.
