Flood WatchHere is the latest update from the National Weather Service regarding the flood event.

Marshall County Emergency Management Director Clyde Avery said, “We have been moved back down from a Flood Warning to a Flood Watch.  Rain total estimates have been reduced since this morning.”    Total rain amount from tonight into early Sunday morning is currently forecast to be 2.37 inches.

No major river flooding is now forecast. Moderate flooding is forecast for both the Yellow River and the Tippecanoe River

The Yellow River is currently at 5.2 feet and is forecast to reach 14 feet, moderate flood stage by Monday afternoon.  Flood stage is 13 feet.

The Tippecanoe River at Ora is currently at 7.63 feet and forecast to reach 13 feet, moderate flood stage by Tuesday afternoon.   Flood stage is 12 feet.

Wind gusts could reach 20-30 mph or higher Saturday night as the front moves through the area.

Impacts from the rain include flooding of streams, creeks, ditches, and low lying areas are still expected.  Flooding and ponding on road surfaces with potential for some roads to be flood over may make for hazardous traveling conditions for the public.  Widespread moderate river flooding late this weekend into early next week is forecast for the Yellow River and the Tippecanoe River. Wind gusts on Saturday may bring down trees or tree limbs and result in power outages, trees across roads, or damage to homes or other property.

Sand and sandbags are available at the old EMA office located just north of the Marshall County Highway Garage on King Road. You will need to bring your own shovel.  The City of Plymouth also has sand and sandbags available at the City Garage located at 2124 Western Avenue or behind the Hoffman Brothers Auto Parts on Garro Street in Plymouth.
