News“The strategy to streamline onboarding for new businesses and create good jobs in Marshall County is working,” said Jerry Chavez, President and CEO of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC). That’s why the Marshall County Commissioners have partnered with the MCEDC to develop a new Manufacturing Center in Plymouth.

The commissioners have agreed to sell just over 10.5 acres of ground that sit at the intersection of Jim Neu and Pioneer Drives.  During the December commissioners meeting, Chavez said the plan is to construct about a 50,000 square foot building as soon as winter is over.  He told WTCA, “We are designing this now … investigating soils and conducting environmental.   There’s still a lot to do before a final size for the project can be determined.”

Chavez also noted that this is a RDA (Regional Cities) project like the Argos manufacturing center was where Sequel Wire and Cable is now located.”

The successful attraction and then expansion of Pretzels Inc. in Plymouth, followed by the $53 million investment by start-up Sequel Wire and Cable in Argos wouldn’t have happened without great partners like NIPSCO, Utility Partners, our local banks and the Regional Development Authority (RDA).

Chavez said, “Our Marshall County Commissioners have been helpful all along.  But, now they officially join MCEDC in developing the new Plymouth Manufacturing Center.”

Chavez continued his comments saying, “This development will mean more jobs.  More tax revenue.  And a richer, more robust quality of life for everyone who lives, works and plays in our great cities and towns.”

The Marshall County development strategy is about getting things done. It’s good for population growth. It’s good for families. And it’s good for the economic stability that we work toward in this region.  That’s why the State of Indiana and surrounding states have noticed what’s happening here in Marshall County.
