Airport_ariel views 6-10-19This week members of the Plymouth Board of Aviation Commissioners were advised of updates to the Airport Layout Plan by engineer Mark Shillington from Woolpert. He said the plan is currently 65% complete.

Future plans now include creating a 5,000 foot by 100 foot runway but the next project is to construct a parallel taxiway to the runway.  Estimated cost is just over $2 million dollars with the city’s match of 5% being about $101.00.  While it was estimated the project would take about four years to complete going though the typical process, Airport Manager Bill Sheley said with everything that happening at the airport they may be able to get the FAA to move faster on the project.

Activity at the airport has increase drastically with increased aviation related businesses, more fixed-based aircraft, the Culver Academies training school this summer and now the high school program.   High school students started the new program on Friday and currently there are 31 kids enrolled.

Fuel sales had soared with both jet-A and low-led fuels having their highest sales since 2010 in July.

No action was requested by the aviation board on the Airport Layout Plan.
