sobriety-checkpoints6Troopers with the Indiana State Police Bremen Post will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Marshall County this Friday night, March 22. This checkpoint is part of Operation Pull Over which has been in effect for all of March and concludes on March 24th. Drivers that encounter this checkpoint are asked to have their driver’s licenses and registrations available for troopers. Time spent at the checkpoint will be minimal.

The purpose of sobriety checkpoints is to remove drivers that are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and pose a risk to others on the roadways. Impaired drivers cause billions of dollars in property damage, personal injury, and death annually.

Please observe the following tips

  • Use a designated driver
  • Don’t get behind the wheel if you have been drinking.
  • If you are hosting a party, offer non-alcoholic drinks as an option.
  • Don’t let friends drive drunk.  Offer a ride with a sober driver or have them spend the night.

If you see a possibly impaired driver, call 911 and be prepared to give a location, direction of travel, and vehicle description.
